Live, Love, Laugh!!

Welcome to the countdown to Retirement… and Beyond! Today, December 10, 2011, is R -24 and counting. “R” as in Retirement and “-24” as in 24 days until the BIG day of January 3rd, 2012, aka Day 0. Sue is also retiring but not officially until January 15th and since I’m writing the 1st blog I decided to use MY date for Day 0.

The plan is to use this to let all interested parties keep tabs on us as we start our Grand Retirement Tour, work at the B&B, and eventually sail off on our sailboat Escapade in search of additional escapades! We hope to keep it interesting, sometimes provocative, humorous, as well as informative. Being in the service industry, we have an unusually warped sense of humor just looking for an outlet! Although, I’m sure my brothers will validate that I am just warped to begin with!

Our Grand Retirement Tour (GRT) is first up on the agenda and we propose to regale you with the vagaries of travel, both foreign and domestic, as we find ourselves wandering through Costa Rica, Panama, Los Angeles, and then on to Maui for the conclusion of the GRT. We hope to share insights to make you think, pictures to drive you green with envy, and updates on our location.

So stand by as we ready ourselves for a Wednesday morning departure from Sea-Tac Airport to Dallas-Ft. Worth for a quick layover (I hope!!) and then on to San Jose, Costa Rica arriving around 8 PM local time! But before that, we need to go finish packing… I wonder how much SPF 50 I can carry through Security.

  1. oh fun!!! I too, am envious. I love Costa Rica. Zip lining, White Water rafting, scuba diving, sailing and deep sea fishing. I tried to think of a way to stay last time I was there.

  7. Anxiously waiting for the first post from the road. Being ‘green with envy’ is okay as vicarious travel is better than none at all – so entertain and amaze us to your heart’s content. I know you will do us proud and make an impression on Costa Rica and Panama. We will see you at the end and finish with a flourish!

    Bon Voyage and travel safe.
    Aloha!
